Naomi Belle Renfro, daughter of the late Johnny C. LaRue and Lila Owens LaRue, was born May 18, 1925, at Roseville, Calif., and died on Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at the home of her daughter in St. Louis. She was 82.
She was married to James Leo Renfro at Piggott, Ark., on Feb. 24, 1944, and to this union six children were born. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2002, after 58 years of marriage.
Affectionately known as Belle and Leo, they attended Dexter High School, married and started their family. They moved to St. Louis in 1954, returning to Bernie in 1970 where they owned and operated Belle's Freeze Queen for a total of 18 years.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her oldest son, Gary Renfro; and three sisters, Geraldine LaRue, Ruth Ferrell and Glenda Crouch.
She is survived by five children, Charlotte (Norman) Combs of Independence, Janis Pott of St. Louis, Roger and Randy Renfro of Dexter, Darla (Jim) King of Blue Springs. She is also survived by one sister, Lorene Mayberry of Essex; two sisters-in-law, Dean Swallows of Puxico and Marjorie Zimmerman of Dexter; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie with funeral services conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, by Brother Doug Sikes of Sikeston.
Interment will be in the Bernie Cemetery.
