Paul Thomas Roberts, son of the late Frank Thomas Roberts and Edith Forbes Roberts, was born on Feb. 20, 1920, at Pocahontas, Ark., and died on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, in the Southeast Missouri Hospital at Cape Girardeau at the age of 87.
Mr. Roberts was a member of the Liberty Hill General Baptist Church at Aid where he served as deacon and choir director for over 60 years, a retired farmer, a former school bus driver for the Bloomfield School District, a member of the Dexter Senior Center Choir and a resident of rural Dexter.
He was united in marriage to Lois Wiggs on July 22, 1940, at Bernie. Mrs. Roberts survives of the home near Dexter.
Besides his wife, survivors include one son, Rick Roberts of Essex; two daughters, Shelby J. McKay-Arbogast of Springfield, Ill., and Pauletta J. Fleeman of Alvin, Texas; four brothers, James Roberts of Hot Springs, Ark., Herbert Roberts, Levern Roberts and David Roberts, all of Benton, Ark.; one sister, Betty Bean of Clarksville, Ark.; 12 grandchildren, Annette, Carrie, Dwight, Robert, Alan, Jerry, Jamie, Jimmy, Jeremy, April, Andy and Jill; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Thomas Roberts; three brothers, Eugene Roberts, F.T. Roberts and Robert Roberts; and one sister, Bessie Guhlmann.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, in the Liberty Hill General Baptist Church at Aid, with Rev. Phil Warren and Dr. Glen Wiggs officiating.
Interment followed in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
