The three men are Jamie Sifford, 29 of Dudley, Jessey Short, 30 of Cape Girardeau and Curtis Pickering, 30 of South Fulton, Tenn.
Preliminary hearings were set for late November regarding both Sifford and Short, while Pickering's attorney filed a motion for a change of judge.
An Oct. 26, a search warrant was served on Pickering's Tenn. residence and several pieces of dog fighting paraphernalia were recovered.
For full details of the seizure read the Friday edition of The Daily Statesman.

If you get a dog from someone that is scared up should you be charged with fighting them? ive known jamie for about two years and when i met hin he had 3 dog. he didnt have those dogs anymore.Im not sayying what he was doing was right if that is what he was doing. im just saying he should not have 18 acounts of dog fighting. For buying a dog with marks.I do know he had been running adba dog shows with his dogs and you need a mill for that. There a lot of people that use a mill for dogs that are not pitbulls. And ive benn to his house and he would have dogs running loose and the other dog would play with them. They are not all killers like people think.
Shannon: I suppose you also think it was ok for the police to slam a pregnant woman on the ground with cuffs on? Hollaring and cussing at her when she had no idea what was going on? I think not..... This has all gotten out of hand because Jamie owned more pitbulls than someone thought was acceptable. That is my opinion anyway.
This is funny stuff. If I am ever caught doing something wrong....I want some of you people on here as my judge. Vick is innocent too! I think him and Jamie should get together and start a Veteranarian Clinic or a Dogshow tour. Those dogs with bandages on their legs just got caught in a briar patch, treadmills for the pitball dogshows, magazines were planted by Mark Furman, blood on the carpet was really paint, the painting til death us part was someone elses.
Very funny and sad stuff.
I think it is hillarious that my last comment placed on here has been removed. I guess it was because I was referring to the blog where someone was trying to be a comedian by saying something of the police planting evidence or trying to set the guys up but I had responded by telling the community that our finest has coverups of their own which they obviously dont want anyone to know about. I GUESS THE DRUG TASK FORCE OFFICER WHICH I REFERRED TO WHO IS NO LONGER WEARING A BADGE DUE TO SOME ILLEGAL ACTIONS WHICH HE TOOK A PART IN BUT HE WAS NEVER PROSECUTED MUST HAVE FLUFFED UP SOME FEATHERS. I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING AS I KNOW THEY WILL SURELY BE PICKING ON ME FOR LETTING THIS CAT OUT OF THE BAG. WATCH FOR ME IN THE LEGALS NOW. HAHAHAHAH
MomOfOne77~ I FULLY respect the fact that you want to know both sides of the story. I dont really want to say too much on here, in fear that I will say too much that the lawyer doesnt want said right now. Our familes are praying hard for this mess to be over with soon... The laws in TN are a lot different than those of MO so we just have to see what they think they have and what they actually get charged with. I have heard 2 different stories- 1 that they found a video tape at Jamie's house and then something about a tape at Curtis' house. They have not really said what was on the tape yet( that I know if that is). I know that they didnt really get anything from Curtis' house.. a few things like vet records and such. I dont get on here everyday but I will try to keep those who are interested up to date on everything that I can.
I really didn't know you couldn't say anything to defend the guys...I honestly can't say that I know much about the legal system since I haven't ever so much as had a ticket before. We have been in court once, on the prosecution's side, with Mr. Welborn and Judge Sharp, and the man on the other side of our case got the max by recommendation of Mr. Welborn. The articles do make it look bad, but of course there are always two sides to every story. I was just looking for the other side. I graduated with Jamie, even been to a couple of his parties, but didn't really "know" him that well...and if that makes me a bad person (for anyone that might comment on that)...sorry, I was a teenager once and wasn't perfect. No one is...but anyway...just wanted to say I didn't know you couldn't say anything to defend them...I hope to see this story continue to be covered and hope there are more comments when you can comment because you don't always get both sides of the story from the newspaper...that's just the way it goes!
well, from what i see it seems possible the men were dog fighting. But, the police never actually caught them in act. I do know that sifford used to raise hound dogs for shows and hutning. It looks like to me the only thing they really caught the men with are the illegal drugs. i don't see it being possible that the dogs needed xanax. sifford doesn't actually have a perfect record, he is a good guy that just follows trouble and trouble follows him, i can see why to police are so keyed on him and not the other boys. It's not like he has never been in trouble. i just hope for the best. to the family of the men i feel for you, i'm sure this hard.
MomOfOne77~ As of right now we can not really comment on anything b/c of the ongoing investigations. I will not say everything that I know.. with that said, yes the vet supplies that they had were jut stuff that you can get from your local vet (stuff for shots, stuff incase the dogs get off the leash and get into a fight with another dog-which yes i HAVE SEEN this happen!, and other medical supplies incase they get sick and such). Yes I can actually take pics of his MANY awards that he has won for dog shows.
bringwine~ I can not really tell you much about jamies house and the carpet and such as I was not there. I do know that blood could be there due to the fact that he just had a litter of pups and a few did not make it but he tried to give them meds (which is another reason to have vet supplies on hand). The treadmills ARE used for stength training for dog shows! Do you know anything about showing dogs??? They even show a few awards that Jamie had recieved! How do you know that the small cage was JUST for small animals "to entice the dog to keep running in pursuit"? Were you there doing it??? Have you ever thought that the cage could be used food a trat or a snack? I am not going to say that I know 100% what Jamie had the cage for! I am just saying you cant automatically say let's throw them in prison or lets kill them just b/c parts of a story are being spread and added to daily!
Amanda~ Yes thats what they are suppose to do but they cant be bias and try to add to the story or make stuff look bad when it's really not! OK how many people that you know, own several animals and dont have vet supplies on hand??? My family keeps supplies on hand, as well as MANY other people in America!! Why is it that only ONE story that I have read has actually been decent enough to go back and say that the stuff in the burn pile was tested and they found out that they were used for shots not anything illegal?!?! As I have already said and will continue to say, I can not say too much about the case until the lawyer has his chance to say it all!
There are strict rules/laws set in place in regards to gathering evidence to protect ALL citizens. Unfortunately, the renegade law enforcement of Stoddard county does not always follow these rules.
Correct me if I'm wrong, (family_first), but aren't police officers SUPPOSED to look for evidence to either prove the suspect guilty or NOT guilty? Why is it when someone is accused of something illegal, they always try to pin/play it off as this big conspiracy by the police? No matter what, law enforcement has to gather the materials and evidence... Otherwise, how would they plea their case in the first place? That's what it's all about. They're not saying these guys are terrible people, but they are accused of breaking the law. Which means...they're going to have to research the case. My point--Get off the Law Enforcement, they're just doing their job and trying to make the world a better place!
Family_first...
Just curious..to what do you credit the stall with blood-stained carpet, the bandaged dogs with obvious open battle wounds from the fighting ring, the sticks used to pry loose the jaws locked upon another dog, the weighty chains dangling from their necks, and the treadmills with cages affixed to one end to house a cat or animal intended to entice the dog to keep running in pursuit? Just curious.
Mr.Short has about 18,000 hits on google, with 35,000 for Mr.Pickering. Mr.Sifford has 45,550,so give them a chance, they are getting some more press daily.
To think, this time last month they still had unknown lives-now they are infamous from coast to coast.
It's about time to see the focus shift off of Jaime and on to the other guys.
Just out of curiousity, are these guys getting in trouble for having legal vet supplies? These things are NOT illegal and they can not be charged with a felony or misdemeanor for having legal vet supplies--medicines or anything else that can be bought at a farm supply store or a veterinarian's office. I haven't seen or heard anywhere that they were being charged with having legal vet supplies. I have seen where one of the accused has 2 drug charges and the drugs listed are NOT used for animals. Is that false information? Also in one of the articles it was noted that there were syringes in a burn file, but it was also noted that these were not considered illegal. Of course people carry supplies to treat their own animals, I do the same, but it is stuff I have bought at the local farm supply store (shots and medicines) that are all legal and are not considered "dog fighting paraphernalia." But if all they have found is vet supplies, they have no case and all the men will be innocent...nothing to worry about. Gee, just look at all the slander cases that will come of this if all they found were vet supplies...wow! So are they making up all that other stuff that was supposedly found like record books and drugs (illegal ones) and that awful sign that says "Till Death Do Us Part" with pits fighting? I mean, I have friends that raise pits and they said they would NEVER own a sign like that because they don't think of their dogs as fighters...so was that sign not really there? I'm just asking because it sounds like you know a lot about this place and you could really set a lot of things straight if you could confirm these are all lies! And those men would be so happy that you called people on these horrific lies! But really, don't worry, if you know for a FACT that they only found vet supplies there and all that other stuff is just made up, there is no case! But then again, if all that stuff written in these articles is true, or even SOME of it, they could be in for a rough ride! But seriously, if all the stuff in these articles is false, there should be people on here left and right saying how WRONG these articles are. Defending your friends/family members is fine, nothing wrong with that. And people calling these guys horrible isn't good either when they haven't been proven guilty. But if this stuff is all a bunch of made up lies, I would want my family and friends on here setting the record straight...I would want people writing how there could have been NO record books detailing dog fights and how there is no possible way they could have found those drugs on me, or how that sign was NEVER in my barn or home because I would never own something so cruel, or if these were show dogs, I would want my family proving it by telling where I have shown my dogs and what kinds of awards they have received...anything to help people understand that there was a conspiracy, besides just saying how good of a person I was. Come on, you guys that know them, prove these articles wrong if you can. So far, I have YET to see ANY of you that actually know these guys try to prove any of the facts in these articles wrong...Yes, you have defended their character by saying how "good" of guys they are, but what about saying you've been there and that sign is nowhere on that property? Or what about saying you've gone with them to their dog shows and give the towns, the actual shows they were in, and the awards those show dogs have won (that stuff can be researched and proven true). Instead of just getting on here and saying how mean or ignorant people are for believing the things written in these articles or how bad the cops are (of course they're trying to get more info to support their case, the same way the defense lawyers I'm sure are trying to find everything they can to prove the cops wrong)...say something to make these guys look better besides "they were good guys and good fathers"...nice, compassionate men/fathers still break the law, but I would love to hear someone come on here and prove these articles wrong!
IMO the police are just trying to get anything and everything that they can to make them look bad! I know several people that have vet supplies to treat their dog, horses, cows and other animals... do you want to pick them for fighting their animals as well??? People carry supplies to treat their own animals so they dont have to pay the high vet bills! We'll see what else they try to come up with!!
