Roy Kester, son of the late George Kester and Dicey Prince Kester, was born on Oct. 11, 1930, in Broseley and died at his residence in Bloomfield on Nov. 1, 2007, at the age of 77.
Mr. Kester was a veteran of the United States Army, a construction engineer, building roads and bridges for many years, and a resident of Bloomfield.
He was united in marriage to Eunice Hunter Kester on May 30, 1959. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include one son, Ricky Hickman of Palm Springs, Calif.; three daughters, Debbie DeJournett of Puxico, Paula Kester of Springfield, and Tammy Sielert of Dexter; one brother, Elvis Kester of Dexter; one sister, Ulah Montagno of Bandera, Texas; also five grandchildren, Nicole Sielert Forkum of Bloomfield, Misty, Courtney and Ryan DeJournett, all of Puxico, and Jordan Sielert of Dexter; by three great-grandchildren, Caleb Brawley of Puxico, Kasen and Alexis Forkum, both of Bloomfield.
Besides his wife, Eunice Hunter Kester and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Aurther Kester, Paul Kester, and John Kester; four sisters, Violet Brandt, Pauline Slaughter, Arlene Barcliff, and Helen Gann.
Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. Sunday Nov. 4, 2007.
Funeral services will then be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with Rev. Dwight Hensley officiating.
Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
