John Joseph Jibben, son of Noemy Jibben of Dexter and the late Dr. Robert E. Jibben, was born on May 23, 1959, at Poplar Bluff and died in his residence near Dexter on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, at the age of 48.
John attended school in Dexter and graduated from Dexter Senior High School in 1977. He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for many years and recently the First United Methodist Church of Dexter. He graduated with a B.S. in administration of justice from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1982. After graduation, he worked in the Police Department at Corsicana, Texas, where he attained the rank of sergeant. He then returned to Missouri in 1990 and began work as an administrator for the Missouri Department of Human Rights with an office in Sikeston for five years.
Survivors include his mother, Noemy Jibben of Dexter; one daughter, Amelia Marie Jibben of Dexter; one brother, Dr. Robert (Bobby) Jibben and wife Laurie of Dexter; one sister, Cecilia Wagoner and husband Shane of Nixa; one nephew, Benjamin Wagoner; one niece, Lisa Marie Wagoner; other relatives and friends.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Nannette Jibben in 2005.
He was a most beloved son, brother and father. We will miss him forever and remember him with love.
Visitation will be held from 3-4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Louis Lowe officiating.
