Crome, Fuller

Sunday, November 11, 2007

Sophia Lee Crome and Justin Neal Fuller were united in marriage at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at the Fuller residence. Performing the double-ring ceremony was Minister Bryan McAlister of Jackson.

Sophia is the daughter of Nicholas and Patsy Crome of London, Borehamwood, England. Justin is the son of Randy and Pam Fuller of Advance and the grandson of Billy and Elodie Davis of Advance, and Jesse and the late Notra Fuller of Chaffee.

The outdoor twilight wedding was held in the Fuller's back garden by a small lake. Candlelighters Tom Sneddon of Surrey, England, friend of the bride, and Chris Burger of Bloomfield, friend of the bridegroom, paddled a rowboat through the lake lighting floating globed candles. Guest book attendant Tom Sneddon also greeted guests and Zach Korenak of St. Louis, friend of the bridegroom, served as usher. The ceremony was held beneath an ivy covered arbor flanked by candlelit black English lanterns hung from shepherds hooks. Stanchions decorated in white tulle with pink bows, black ribbon trim, and ivy, lined the bridal path.

In a customary English tradition, the bride, escorted by her father, led the bridal party with her attendants following. The bride was attired in a white chiffon A-lined strapless gown. A pearl and rhinestone tiara adorned her hair coupled with a waist length veil edged in pearls and rhinestones. Her bouquet consisted of a round cascading, hand tied cluster of natural wildwood flowers of white roses, orchids, ferns and greenery.

Sophia chose her sister, Karla Crome of London, England, as her maid of honor. Other attendants were Jessica Fuller of Cape Girardeau, sister of the bridegroom; Laura Fenton of Newcastle Upon-Tyne, England; Louise Green of Chelmsford, England; and Rosie Samuel of Godalming, England, all friends of the bride. Attendants of the bridal party wore identical black two-piece ensembles with fitted strapless corset tops and mid-calf length skirts with ruffled hems. They carried bouquets of hand-tied hot pink roses with greenery.

Justin chose Colin Stewart of Bloomfield as his best man. Other groomsmen were Brandon Alsup of Springfield; Drew Hill of Colorado Springs, Colo.; T.J. Davis of Bloomfield; and Blaine Stewart of Bell City.

Violin music by Brittney Mills of Sikeston greeted the guests as they were seated. The bridal party entered to the violin solo of "Canon D".

A special guest attending the wedding was Peter Crome, uncle of the bride from Fife, Scotland.

A reception and dance at the Bloomfield Country Club followed the wedding. The Club, decorated by Trisha Vandeven, was adorned in white tulle and fairy lights draping from the ceiling. Guest tables topped with white linens were adorned with pink ribbon and centerpieces of black English candle lit lanterns.

The cake table, also designed by Vandeven, featured a gold fish bowl centerpiece with a three feet tall vase of white roses, carnations, and greenery. The fish bowl contained four gold fish floating above pink and white crystals. Two three-tiered silver pedestals filled with cupcakes sat on each side of the centerpiece. On top of each pedestal sat small white cakes decorated with white icing and chocolate designs. The bride's cake featured a miniature tiara and wedding veil while the bridegroom's cake held a miniature black top hat. The cupcakes of chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla, were decorated with tiny American, British, and German emblems symbolizing the couple's lives together.

In typical British custom, the bride and bridegroom's fathers and the best man made toasts to the couple.

The bridegroom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner catered by Dexter Barbeque for the wedding party Friday, Aug. 31. British guests and family also enjoyed a special meal at Lambert's Café in Sikeston on Aug. 29.

After a brief honeymoon in St. Louis, the couple bid farewell to Sophia's family and friends who returned to England. Justin and Sophia will be making their home in London, England, where they will both work and pursue graduate degrees.

Sophia is a 2003 graduate of Mill Hill County High School and a 2007 graduate of Nottingham University of Nottingham, England, with a B.A. in foreign languages. Justin is a 2003 graduate of Bloomfield High School and a 2007 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University of Cape Girardeau with a B.A. in German and chemistry. Justin is employed at B.A. Promotions in Dexter.
