William "Bill" Baker, 78, of Zalma was born Oct. 15, 1929, at Lowndes, the son of Ellis and Carrie Mullins Baker, and died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, at the John J. Pershing V.A. Hospital in Poplar Bluff.
Bill was a retired candy maker at Mavrakos Co. in St. Louis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War from 1952-1954 as a sergeant. He was a graduate of Greenville High School.
Bill and Mary Lynn Pape were united in marriage on June 25, 1955, at St. Louis, and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include his wife, Mary Baker of Zalma; a daughter, Jeania Maria Lowery of Imperial; three brothers, Bradley Baker of Greenville, Douglas and Samuel Baker, both of Lowndes; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and three sisters.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance with Pastor William Hatch, Jr. officiating.
Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
