Floyd James Hoffman, son of the late Elmer Henry and Mina Molly Neal Hoffman, was born in Dexter on June 11, 1924, and died at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Nov. 21, 2007, at the age of 83.
Mr. Hoffman had lived most of his life in Dexter. He attended the First Presbyterian Church in Dexter. He was a retired parts department manager and had worked for Sigler Chevrolet, Evan's Buick and retired from Allen Christian Buick Pontiac GMC in Dexter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served overseas during WWII and received two bronze stars.
On Sept. 29, 1942, he was married to Irene Grim in Piggott, Ark.
Surviving are his wife, Irene Hoffman of Dexter; three daughters and sons in law, Judy and Jim Cochran of Doniphan, Jane Cathey, Susan and Steve Watkins all of Dexter; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer Henry Hoffman, Jr. and Robert Lee Hoffman.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, from 5-8 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Tom Bass of Cape Girardeau officiating and with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs of Dexter assisting.
Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
