Ralph J. Hunsaker

Ralph J. Hunsaker was born May 2, 1938, in Advance, the son of Newton and Anna (Dublin) Hunsaker. He married Ruth A. Erickson on June 11, 1956, in Dexter. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2006.

Ralph worked as a machinist and a truck driver for most of his lifetime. After Ruth's death, Ralph followed his love for animals and began helping out at the Great Plains Animal Hospital in Newton, Kan.

Survivors include one daughter, Terri Hunsaker Goodman of Sedgwick, Kan.; one son, Duane Hunsaker of Newton, Kan.; five brothers, Gene Hunsaker of Dexter, Alvin Hunsaker of Jackson, Bill Hunsaker of Springfield, Jerry Hunsaker of Springfield and George Hunsaker of Eugene, Ore.; and four sisters, Virginia Sherfield of Dexter, Pansy Gianacakas of Springfield, Linda Christian of Fordland, and Glenda Fowler of Highland, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth A. Hunsaker; his mother, Anna (Dublin) Hunsaker; his father, Newton Hunsaker; and three brothers, J.D., James and Burl Hunsaker.

Visitation was held from 1-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton, Kan. The family greeted friends at the funeral home on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, from 3-5 p.m.

The funeral service was conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton, Kan., with Chaplain Peter Hartman officiating.

Interment followed in Restlawn Gardens of Memory.

Memorials may be made to Great Plains Animal Hospital.
