John M. "Mac" Townsend, son of the late Delbert and Mildred Ashbaugh Townsend, was born in Puxico on Oct. 19, 1938, and died at the Centinela Freeman Regional Medical Center in Los Angeles, Calif., on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at the age of 69.

Mr. Townsend had lived in Missouri before moving to California 42 years ago. He was a computer engineer with the Boeing Corporation in the aerospace industry.

Surviving are his wife, Maria Cabrera of El Segundo, Calif.; two sons, Bruce and Bart Townsend, both of Quincy, Ill.; four daughters, Debbie Maurer of Freeburg, Ill., Susie Torres and Brenda Davis, both of Corona, Calif., and Sarah Townsend of California; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Doris Leslie of Puxico and Donna Reining of Mesa, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Holem.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with Rev. Ray Placher of Puxico officiating.

Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
