Gladys Heflin Rowland

Gladys Heflin Rowland, daughter of the late Abe Brotherton and Pricilla Green Brotherton was born on Oct. 27, 1925 in Dunklin County and died at the Golden Living Center in Dexter on Dec. 28, 2007 at the age of 82.

Mrs. Rowland was a member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter, a member of the Quilting Club at Second General Baptist Church, a member of the Dexter Bowling Team, a former employee with Elders Manufacturing and a resident of Dexter.

On Nov. 15, 1941 she was united in marriage to Glen Heflin at Bloomfield. He preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1982. She then married Alfred Rowland on Jan. 26, 1986 in Dexter. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1995.

Survivors include one son, Jerry D. Heflin Sr. of Dexter; two sisters, Letha Clark of Flint, Mich. and Norma Moore of Dexter; one half-brother, Ray Brotherton of Marble Hill; one half-sister, JoAnn Mehas of Marble Hill; three grandchildren, Jerry D. Heflin Jr. of Dexter, Alan D. Heflin of Highland, Ill. and Jennifer Lynn Iberg and husband Vince of Highland, Ill.; three great-grandchildren, Dylan Ray Heflin, Justice Luke Heflin and Joey Iberg.

Besides her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Glen Brotherton; one sister, Grace Swift and one half-brother, Bob Brotherton.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. till 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007 at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007 at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with Dr. Vyron Yount officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
