Gertrude E. Green, daughter of the late Rev. James M. and Martha Chasteen King, was born in Huntingdale on Nov. 19, 1910, and died at Golden Living Center in Dexter on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at the age of 97.
Mrs. Green had lived in Southeast Missouri most of her life. She had lived in Aid, Bloomfield and Dexter. She and her husband had worked and owned the grocery store at Aid for several years. She was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Bloomfield Eastern Star Chapter.
On July 11, 1930, she was married to Lewis Herman Green. He preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1973.
Surviving are one son, James L. Green of Dallas, Ga.; two daughters, Janice Elaine Green of Dexter and Debra Ann Hicks of Canada; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son in infancy; one brother, Clarence King; and two sisters, Lucille King and Opal King.
Visitation was held after 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Ronald Williams of Aid officiating.
Interment followed in the Bloomfield Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
