Virginia Pauline Whitaker

Virginia Pauline Whitaker, the daughter of the late Thomas Marion and Mabel May Medler Parker, was born in Wabash County, Ill., on May 1, 1918, and died at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at the age of 89.

Mrs. Whitaker had lived in Dexter the past 30 years. She had worked as a nursing home operator.

On Nov. 16, 1945, she was married to Luther Whitaker in St. Louis, and he preceded her in death on May 29, 2007.

Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Whitaker of Dexter and Virginia Hendrix of Mt. Vernon; four sons, Aubrey Finch of Bernie, Marvin, Bobby and Joe Finch, all of Dexter; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held after 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Frank Townsend of Parma officiating.

Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
