Sherman F. Boone, son of the late Dan and Belle Haney Boone, was born near Dexter on Sept. 1, 1919, and died at the Golden Living Center in Malden on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at the age of 88.

Mr. Boone had lived in Dexter for many years and had spent the past 21 years in Malden. He owned and operated Boone's Grocery Store in Dexter. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Surviving are two sons, David Boone of Batesville, Ark., Jim Boone of Dexter; one daughter, Leslie Palmer of Syracuse, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Orville, Jim and Jack Boone.

Visitation was held after 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Dean Williams of Dexter officiating.

Interment was held in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
