Michael Avery, son of Ira and Jean Brown Avery of Whitewater, was born on Feb. 28, 1947, at Sikeston and died in the St. Francis Medical Center at Cape Girardeau on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at the age of 60.

Mr. Avery was of the Baptist faith, a self-employed carpenter and a resident of rural Essex.

He was united in marriage to Ruth Francis on June 26, 1965, at Frisco. Mrs. Avery survives of the home near Essex.

Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by one daughter, Sherry Crider of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, James Avery of Whitewater, Steve Avery of San Antonio, Texas, and Dennis Avery of Poplar Bluff; two grandchildren, Kendra Rinehart of Dexter and Taylor Crider of Carterville, Ill.

Visitation was held from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were then conducted at 1:30 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dalton Avery officiating.

Interment followed in the Liberty Cemetery near Bloomfield.
