Rev. Gerald Beam

Rev. Gerald W. Beam, son of the late Herman Gerald Beam and Ruby Greenwood Beam, was born on Oct. 9, 1942, at Sylvan Hills, Ark., and died in the Missouri Delta Medical Center at Sikeston on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at the age of 65.

Rev. Beam was a member of the Southwest Church of the Nazarene, a 21-year veteran of the United States Naval Reserve retiring as Lieutenant Commander and serving as Chaplain, a New York Life Insurance agent since 1973, and a resident of Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Carol Sue Shipman on Oct. 18, 1986, at Poplar Bluff, and Mrs. Beam survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Heather Lee McKelley of Meridian, Idaho, Sarah Jean Peard and husband Dustin of Rocklin, Calif., Leslie Ann Fridley and husband Nathan of Meridian, Idaho, and Lisa Marie Garnder and husband Billy of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Thomas Earl Beam of Hot Springs, Ark. eight grandchildren, Jessica McKelley, Olivia McKelley, Shawn McKelley, Jr., Ashlyn Peard, Kimberlyn Gardner, Braeden Gardner, Brandon Wilson and Brianna Wilson.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Tim Russell and Rev. Ed Stoner officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
