Update on Stoddard Co. election filings

Sunday, January 20, 2008
From staff reports

This week the first person to come out and announce a bid for a county office made his intentions known.

Tim Aslin, well-known community banker and Dexter City Councilman, has announced that he will seek the democratic nomination for the position of Stoddard County Treasurer/Collector in the 2008 election.

Aslin is a Stoddard County native and a career financial professional with over 22 years banking and accounting experience. He has also served three terms as a Dexter City Councilman and is currently President of that Board.

"The Treasurer is really the banker for the county. While I was opposed to the recent change that did away with Township Collectors, it does make the job of County Treasurer even more critical," he said. "Now, more than ever, it is important for a proven financial professional to manage our money.

"While I am proud of my professional background, I must say that growing up on the family farm east of Bloomfield also taught me a great deal about the value of a dollar and I have never forgotten those common sense lessons of my childhood," Aslin said regarding his decision to run for office.

Tim is a Bloomfield High School graduate and earned a Business Administration degree from Southeast Missouri State University. He and his wife, Lesa (Bender) Aslin of Puxico have been married for over 20 years. The couple has one daughter, Jennifer, who is 13 years old.

He added, "I encourage anyone with questions or issues they would like to discuss to call me at home at 624-2020. For additional information, I will also have a website at http://www.TimAslin.com within the next few days.
