Robert D. Patterson, Sr., 69, who is the current Shelby County Trustee in Memphis, died suddenly at Methodist Germantown Hospital Jan. 18, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Mildred Patterson of Essex.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Virginia Patterson; one daughter, Tammy Geurin and husband, Mike; two sons, Robert Patterson, Jr. and Michael Patterson; and three grandsons. He is also survived by seven brothers and sisters, Colleen Unger and Roger Patterson of Sikeston, Chris Ryman of Essex, Carolyn Dzvonar, Wayne Patterson and Larry Patterson of Dexter, and Ron Patterson of Labadie.

Visitation was held from 9 -10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis.

Services were conducted in Memphis on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Private interment services followed in Ripley, MS. The family requests any memorials be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.
