Dorris Turlington

Dorris Turlington, the daughter of the late William Thomas Eaton and Ada Mae Dorris Eaton, was born in Bloomfield on Oct. 21, 1919, and died at the Gideon Care Center on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at the age of 91.

Mrs. Turlington had lived in Bloomfield and Dexter all her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter. She had served as the librarian at the Dexter Public Library for 30 years.

On Sept. 5, 1936, she was married to Grundy Turlington in Dexter. He preceded her in death on July 9, 2003.

Surviving are one son, Terry Turlington of Dexter; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Carlton Eaton; and two sisters, Murl Long and Edith Palmer.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at the Committal Shelter in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with Dr. Curtis Porter of Dexter officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
