Bernice Ross

Bernice Ross, daughter of the late Joseph Fererro and Laura Kurtz Fererro, was born on Oct. 5, 1910, and died in the Cypress Point Health Care at Dexter on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at the age of 97.

Mrs. Ross was of the Catholic faith, a former furniture department head for Styx, Baer and Fuller in St. Louis, a former clerk for Famous Barr in Cape Girardeau and The Rocking Horse in Dexter, and a resident of Dexter.

She was first united in marriage to Frank Decker, and he preceded her in death. She then married Al Ross, he also preceded her in death.

She is survived by one son, Jim Decker; one daughter, Verna Dean Becker of Granite City, Ill.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers; and three sisters.

No services are planned. Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of her arrangements.
