Fern Abernathy, daughter of the late Bentley McClain and Ethel Rollins McClain, was born on Feb. 6, 1917, at Newark, Ark., and died in the Golden Living Center at Dexter on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at the age of 90.

Mrs. Abernathy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter, a former employee of the Elder Manufacturing Company in Dexter and a resident of Dexter.

She was united in marriage to Robert Homer Abernathy on Oct. 11, 1933, at Newark, Ark. Mr. Abernathy preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 2002.

Survivors include two sons, Gene Abernathy of Mt. Home, Ark., and Bob Abernathy of Dexter; three sisters, Ruth Moore of Lee's Summit, Patsy Rust of Batesville, Ark., and Janie Mayberry of Florida; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 - 11 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Dr. Kevin Chenoweth officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
