Morris "Horsie" James, son of the late Paul James and Bernice Reeves James, was born on Sept. 1, 1932, at Clarkton and died at his residence in Bernie on Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at the age of 75.

Mr. James was the owner and operator of Winer's Department Store in Bernie, was a charter member of the Bernie Lions Club, and was of the Jewish faith. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in Korea.

He was united in marriage to Sara J. Miller on Feb. 4, 1950, at Hernando, Miss.

Survivors include his wife, Sara J. James of Bernie; one son, Marcus James of Cordova, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Joseph James and Sarah Frances James, both of Cordova, Tenn.

Graveside services were conducted at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008. Rev. Susan Marner-Sides officiated.
