Morris "Horsie" James, son of the late Paul James and Bernice Reeves

James was born on Sept. 1, 1932, at Clarkton and died at his residence in Bernie on Feb. 25, 2008, at the age of 75.

Mr. James was the owner and operator of Winer's Department Store in Bernie, was a charter member of the Bernie Lions Club, and was of the Jewish faith. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict.

He was united in marriage to Sara J. Miller on Feb. 4, 1950, at Hernando, Miss.

Survivors include his wife, Sara J. James of Bernie; one son, Marcus James and wife Reba of Cordova, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Joseph James and Sarah Frances James, both of Cordova, Tenn.; one brother, Gary James of Dexter; two sisters, Sonya Ahmann of Lebanon and Linda Green of Arab, Ala.

He was preceded in death other than by his parents by two brothers, Paul James and Frank James.

Graveside services were conducted at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, starting at 11 a.m. Rev. Susan Marner-Sides officiated.
