Arzie "Junior" Baldwin, Jr. the son of the late Arzie and Bertie Lou Barnett Baldwin, was born in Charter Oak on Aug. 13, 1931, and died at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at the age of 76.

Junior had lived in the Essex area most of his life. He was a member of the Clines Island Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. Junior is a retired police offer for the city of Essex serving for 20 years. Junior also took care of the Essex Cemetery for many years marking and digging graves.

On April 27, 1959, Junior was married to Patricia Sue Woodruff in Sikeston.

Surviving are his wife Patricia Baldwin of Essex; one son, Marc Baldwin of Frisco; two grandchildren; four brothers, Billy Baldwin of Charter Oak, Riley Baldwin of Cuba, Ronnie Baldwin of Benton and Rick Baldwin of Sturdivant; one sister, Cassandra Breece of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Harold Baldwin; two sisters, Mary Swinger and Pauline Pannebecker; and two sons that died in infancy, Michael and Timothy Baldwin.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Ronnie Ledbetter of Essex officiating.

Interment will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.

Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
