Lorell Murphy

Stacy Lorell Murphy, daughter of the late E.H. Crabtree and Bessie Huey Crabtree, was born on Oct. 23, 1915, at Elbridge, Tenn., and died in her residence at Dexter on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at the age of 92.

Mrs. Murphy attended the Southwest Church of the Nazarene in Dexter and lived east of Bernie for many years where she was engaged in farming with her husband before moving to Dexter in 1981.

She was united in marriage to Ralph Murphy on Aug. 12, 1933, at Dexter, and to this union six children were born. Mr. Murphy preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1990.

She is survived by three sons, Quincy Murphy of Dexter, Gary Dalton Murphy and Berry Don Murphy, both of Bernie; two daughters, Arvilla Dean Palmer of Dexter and Linda Sue Garner of Sikeston; one brother, E.S. "Dobe" Crabtree of Elsberry; 12 grandchildren, Joy Aycock, Deana Palmer, Penny Palmer Haughey, Borden Murphy, Mitzi Murphy Goodwin, Chuck Walters, Stacy Walters, Bryan Walters, Kelly Murphy Lowrie, Gary Murphy the 2nd, Tim Murphy and Melissa Murphy Burge; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Alveta Jean Aycock; four brothers, Alvie Crabtree, Ervin Crabtree, Cam Crabtree, and Archie Crabtree; and one sister, Lavern Hampton.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2008, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ed Stoner officiating.

Interment followed in the Bernie Cemetery.
