Yet another member of Dexter's Pack 200 has earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
The project of Landon Hall, 17-year-old son of Gary and Rhonda Hall of Dexter, was reviewed and accepted by the Scouting Board of Review in late February.
Hall's project involved a much needed renovation project of the equipment at Dexter's Boon Park, including the sanding and painting of the park's slide and gym equipment. The restoration of the concession stand at East City Park was also included in his project.
As an applicant submits a project plan to earn his Eagle Scout status, they are required to provide a detailed description of what work is to be completed, the method, materials and time schedule that will be implemented and the individuals who will be solicited to help with the project.
"An important part of earning the Eagle Scout rank is to utilize other scouts in your plan," Landon explained.
He used the assistance of several younger scouts in Pack 200 in completing his project, which took an estimated 191 actual work hours.
A long list of accomplishments precede Hall in reaching the Eagle Scout status. He was elected by school faculty members for three consecutive years to be the recipient of the "Most Valuable Person Award" for having set a good example for his fellow students.
Hall has been included on the honor roll at DHS for the last three years, maintaining a 3.0 or better GPA for each semester.
An integral member of the All District Choir, Hall was granted the Choir Award for both 2004 and 2005. Hall has also been involved in the DHS Choir Sextet and acted as Choir Section Leader last year. In addition, he is a member of the Chamber Choir at DHS, a select group that is comprised of students who attempt to perform at their highest capability.
"My career interest at the moment is in the field of engineering," Hall stated, but he is yet unsure of what branch of engineering that may be.
In the Scouting community, Landon has served as assistant patrol leader and historian. He has achieved Order of the Arrow-Ordeal and Brotherhood, and has attended various camping and adventure excursions including the National Jamboree and Shilo Camping trip.
"I've had great leadership that has enabled me to reach the level of Eagle Scout," Hall claims. "My parents and also my grandparents have always been positive role models for me and without the leadership of so many Scouting officials I have had over the years, I never would have been able to reach this goal."
Certification, along with the Eagle Scout medal and accompanying badge, were presented to Hall during Monday evening's Court of Honor held at the First United Methodist Church.
Hall is the grandson of Jim Hall of Bloomfield and Sally Hall of Dexter and Bernie Lou Johnson and the late J.W. Johnson of Dexter.
