ElFreda "Susie" Cox, daughter of the late Floyd "Peanuts" Cox, Sr., and Marjorie Fellows Cox, was born on Jan. 28, 1956, at Poplar Bluff and died in the Southeast Missouri Hospital at Cape Girardeau on March 24, 2008, at the age of 52.

Ms. Cox was a member of Sweet Prospect General Baptist Church in Dexter, a photo-journalist with the North Stoddard Countian Newspaper, the secretary for the Liberty Sunday School General Baptist Association, the president of the Bloomfield Lions Club, a former employee of the Puxico Press and a resident of Dexter.

She is survived by two sisters, Doris Nelson and husband William, and Cathy Starnes and husband Gary, all of Dexter; one brother, Floyd Cox, Jr. and wife Sunnye of De Bary, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Cox of Bernie and Ruth Cox of Lexington, Ky.; three special nieces, April Wamble, Ashley Starnes and Amber Starnes, all of Dexter; other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Leslie F. Cox, Morris Leroy Cox and B.J. Cox; and one nephew, Dwane Owens.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2008, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kevin Eskew officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
