Betty Eleanor Cato, 82, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born on Aug. 28, 1925, near Advance, the daughter of Howard and Minnie Croy. She was married to Ale C. Cato on June 10, 1946.

Mrs. Cato was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. She remained active in and served as President of American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Missouri and past president and board member of the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include her husband, Ale Cato of Cape Girardeau; four daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Tommy Horton of Dexter, Sandra Cato of Cape Girardeau, Janet and Lee Cornelius of Perryville and Amy and Greg Reynolds of McClure, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Clara Walker, formerly of Oxford, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Evan Croy and Rex Croy; two sisters, Pauline Knight and Jewell Reimler; and a great-granddaughter, Lillian Holden.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance with Rev. Eric Shrum officiating.

Interment followed at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
