Marvin Roberts, son of the late William Prentess and Letha Mofield Roberts, was born in rural Essex on June 30, 1915, and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Monday, April 7, 2008, at the age of 92.

Mr. Roberts had lived in Southeast Missouri all his life and had lived in Bloomfield since 1995. He had attended the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Dexter and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II.

On Aug. 2, 1952, he was married to Hester Faye Paisley in Piggott, Ark.

Surviving are one son, Bill Roberts of Bloomfield; one step-daughter, Carolyn Mills of Everett, Wash.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Flecie Boone of Flint, Mich., and Ruth McBride of Dexter; two brothers, Tom Roberts of St. Louis and Doyle Roberts of Tacoma, Wash.

He was preceded in death by four brothers; and one sister.

Visitation will be held after 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Shane Mallard of Dexter officiating.
