Billy Calvert

Billy Garner Calvert, son of the late Will Calvert and Vida Garner Calvert, was born on Sept. 24, 1936, at New Orleans, La., and died in the St. Francis Medical Center at Cape Girardeau on Monday, April 7, 2008, at the age of 71.

Mr. Calvert was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, a former taxi cab driver in Dexter, and a resident of rural Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Emma Lee on Dec. 19, 1980, at Dexter. Mrs. Calvert survives of the home.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Bill Calvert of Overland Park, Kan.; three grandchildren, Chad Calvert and wife Melanie, Harley Calvert and Christy Moore and husband Ronnie, all of Dexter; one great-grandchild, Audrey Calvert of Dexter; by Josh Parker and Amanda Mitchell, both of Essex, who were raised in the home as children.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Michael Calvert.

Visitation will be held from 12:30-2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Phil Warren officiating.

Interment will be conducted at a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
