Charles J. Adams, son of the late Andrew Jackson and Etna Mae Lowery Adams, was born in Parma on March 13, 1920, and died at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the age of 88.
Mr. Adams had lived in Pontiac, Mich., for 27 years and returned to Dudley in 1978. He was retired from the GMC Truck and Coach Division of General Motors. He loved to garden and hunt.
On March 6, 1948, he was married to Naomi Chapman in Piggott, Ark.
Surviving are his wife, Naomi Adams of Dudley; two sons, Charles Adams of Summertown, Tenn., and William Adams of Columbia, Tenn.; one daughter, Edith Crum of Orion, Mich.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward Adams of Poplar Bluff and Sammy Adams of Rochester Hills, Mich.; two sisters, Rachel Ragasa of Barstow, Calif., and Clara Harris of Poplar Bluff.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth Anita Adams; three brothers; and four sisters.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2008, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2008, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with Rev. David Skinner of Puxico officiating.
Interment will be in the Puxico Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
