The election ended in the defeat of incumbent Ward 3 Alderman Tim Crutchfield by challenger Ray Pixley by 60-percent of the 142 votes cast.
This brings to a close Crutchfield's second stint on the Dexter Board of Aldermen.
At the Board's next meeting on Monday, May 12, midway through the meeting, they will adjourn the old Board and install its new members.
In other business Monday night:
* The City held a public hearing on a recently annexed piece of property along Hwy. AF from 'unzoned' to R-1 for single-family dwellings. No objections were spoken and the measure was passed unanimously.
* Aldermen and tourism committee director Jerry Corder said that the visitdexter.com billboards are both up as of Monday afternoon.
* The Dexter Fire Department has purchased a one-ton truck and 6 generators from state surplus. The generators are to power centers in case of another mass power outages.
* Park and Rec Director Lawson Metcalf said work is still progressing at the new gymnasium at West Park. Thanks to better weather, they are moving along well, he reported.
* Economic Development Coordinator Janet Coleman reported that the recent Regional Career and Job Expo held at the National Guard Armory was a success. More than 400 vacant positions were up for grabs at the event.
* A National Day of Prayer will be recognized by the Dexter Ministerial Alliance on Thursday, May 1 at 12:15 on the City Hall lawn. In the event of rain, it will be held in the Disciples of Christ Christian Church. For more information, call 624-8129 or 820-3506.
