Friday, April 25, 2008

A 35-year-old Dexter man is in Stoddard County Jail today, charged in connection with molesting a three-year-old girl.

Chris Abernathy has admitted to molestation allegations, according to the Dexter Police Department.

In a report from Detective Lt. Trevor Pulley, Abernathy admitted to the charges of molestation during an interview on Wednesday.

According to Pulley, the victim was two years old at the time of the alleged molestation.

Abernathy, housed at the Stoddard County Sheriff's Department in Bloomfield, is charged with an unclassified felony of statutory rape in the first degree, along with a Class B felony of child molestation in the first degree.

A cash only bond for Abernathy has been set at $75,000 and he remains in custody.

Are you kidding me?!?! THREE men busted for child molestation in the past couple months?!?! And to top it all off, this man was doing it to a 2 year old baby! I whole-heartedly agree, in an instance of this sort, that these men need to be punished in the same fashion that they punished their victims, and left to die. It's harsh, and some may see it as wrong, but I do NOT care.

This guy was already a registered sex offenders. That means that someone was being irresponsible and leaving him alone with their child. Why is his bond lower than that of a drug dealer? I think is far worse than dealing drugs.

It's time for public hangings for this kindof crap!! Charlie Daniels says it best in his song, Simple Man- " take them down to the swamp put them on their knees, tie them to a stump and let the rattlers, the bugs, and the alligators do the rest". Not an exact quote, but you get the message: Death penalty for child rapists! I agree with you Mrs. Dolphin!!

By the way, why's this creep out on bond? That's the way the Poplar Bluff Daily American Republic reports it. According to said article, he has to stay away from the victim and the family until his court day. Is this correct, and if so, WHY AINT HE STILL LOCKED UP?

-- Posted by swift on Sat, Apr 26, 2008, at 9:47 AM

johndeeregirl maybe it was not knowledge of the child's guardian/s, I for one say this to all the child molester's and sick individuals out there, I have 3 girls and if any of you lay one finger on any of them, you'd had better pray to GOD that the law gets you before I do!!!!

-- Posted by MikeM68 on Sun, Apr 27, 2008, at 2:54 AM

This isn't the first time this sicko has raped someone. He raped a friend of mine a few years ago. Now maybe they will do something about him being free to do these tasteless things.

This just makes my stomach turn! Only $75,000.00?????????? When i was busted a decade ago for Poss. of Meth. I was on bond for $100,000.00.

Also just to let all of you know there is still another molester free right now in Dexter on the West end of town. No one will come forward in the case so, the police can do nothing. And of all things the mother knows it happened and is still with him.

Sickos, sickos sickos. All the damn barflies at the bar and yet our children are at risk of these kinds of predators!

God Bless all families involved.....

April is National Child Abuse Awareness Month. We have surely become aware of it this month haven't we? There is no rehabilitation for these kind of evil creatures that prey upon innocent souls. You have to "want" to change if you want to be rehabilitated. They don't "want" to change. I think that there should be no bond set at all for perverts. And if they can't keep them locked up in a dungeon forever, they should at least have to have a tracking device placed under their skin so law enforcement know where they are at all times. They are like stray dogs looking for a free meal. Well I have a

bucket of lead to feed them!!!!

-- Posted by reyndown on Mon, Apr 28, 2008, at 4:54 PM

yes...these people, as well as other people w/problems can be rehabilitated. we don't know if they want to change or not, but w/the proper help and treatment, they can change! yes, the child is the innocent victim, and i pray that God will take care of her. for Chris, i pray that your family can get you the help you need. GOD BLESS BOTH FAMILIES!

Oh that's nothing, my friend is sitting in the county jail for the same bond amount for piercing a minor who falsified her age, how fair is that? He should have been released with a misdemeanor and $500 fine but the book is being thrown at him. For what reason? I think if a minor falsifies her age then her parents are to blame and should question their childs own state of mind and personality.

-- Posted by Justice Served on Tue, Apr 29, 2008, at 7:58 PM

How in the world can you hurt a child like this and your bond only be $75000.00. But if you get caught with some type of drug your bond is set at $250000.00 cash only. Stoddard county needs to do & act on what us tax payers are giving them money to help do. No I'm not saying drugs are okay to do, but sexual abusing a child is not right either. There both WRONG things, but which is worst? I guess in Stoddard County's eyes-Drug abuse is a "Bigger Crime", then hurting a child.

-- Posted by teel on Tue, Apr 29, 2008, at 9:13 PM

The real question should be, how in the world can you put someone who has ALREADY BEEN CONVICTED of a sexual crime against a minor on a $75,000 bond?!?! Not only should it be more, it should have been CASH ONLY! Stoddard County does have its priorities screwed up...and I wish they would read these comments so maybe they would realize it! Then again, it probably wouldn't make a difference.

It's sick and disgusting...and I know there have been VERY FEW cases where these people have been rehabilitated...but apparently this man isn't one of them!!!!!! Some of these people are just wired wrong...and there's NO fixing them. So why should we give this man a third chance to do this to one of our children?!?!?! We shouldn't! I fully support death penalty for sex offenders!

-- Posted by mrsdolphin on Wed, Apr 30, 2008, at 3:26 PM

The man needs to be sent to prison and then casterated. That will be a good punishment for him!!!!

-- Posted by MOGAL on Wed, Apr 30, 2008, at 3:52 PM

I think he should be put to death for this one ..he raped my daughter when she was 16 and was found guilty . but made a plea bargain and was set free then as well..what a system we have here !!!!!!!

-- Posted by PMC on Wed, Apr 30, 2008, at 8:33 PM

This nasty fool needs to be locked up for good. He is useless to society, really, I mean what good is he doing? I had the unfortunate displeasure of working with this( presumed) pedaphile's mother years ago at a nursing home. he never had any good upbringing but that's still no excuse for what he is!

-- Posted by mizzou_mom on Thu, May 1, 2008, at 10:17 AM

dex, I think people can only be rehabilitated if they DESIRE a change. This man is a monster, he has proven that over and over again. I agree all involved need prayer but this man MUST pay for what he has done. There is no excuse.

-- Posted by mizzou_mom on Thu, May 1, 2008, at 10:21 AM

I agree with mrs dolphin......he is BROKEN....he CAN'T or WON'T be fixed. He is out of chances as far as I am concerned.

-- Posted by mizzou_mom on Thu, May 1, 2008, at 10:23 AM

i for one can tell you about his upbringing b/c i was there, and there is nothing wrong w/me!!! yes, if this truly happened, he needs psychiatric help, which i can assure you he WILL get! as far as everyone on here saying that he don't want to change...how do you know?!? again, i pray that God will take care of the little girl, and that God will help Chris!!! GOD BLESS!

-- Posted by dex on Thu, May 1, 2008, at 11:30 AM

How do we know he will or won't change? Well, people that are a menace to society usually don't change but I hope he is willing to because what he has done to that little girl is horrific.

-- Posted by mizzou_mom on Fri, May 2, 2008, at 7:38 AM

Dex, I'll make this plain and simple...I understand what your family might be going through...and I'm sure you all have the HOPE that he wants to change...but why in the world would I, a normal citizen who has no bias for or against him, need to believe he wants to change?!?! If he wanted to change...would he have commited the same crime TWICE?!?! Granted, he's innocent until proven guilty by American law...but come on...be serious for a minute and think about it...

-- Posted by mrsdolphin on Fri, May 2, 2008, at 7:11 PM

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, cry out for His wrath upon this man. God's punishment is justified.

-- Posted by Grati Tude on Sat, May 3, 2008, at 1:41 AM

geez what a screwed up county... this guy has the opportunity to bond out !!!!!! what the hell is wrong with these so called law officials... thought they were to protect our children? they are more concerned with keeping the jail full of dopers and dogfighters.. who cares...!! lets worry about stuff that matters.

-- Posted by myviews on Sat, May 3, 2008, at 11:56 PM

I can tell you what is wrong with the county, it is called Joe Z. Satterfield and Briney Welborne. Can't make it any plainer than that!!!!!

-- Posted by sweet on Sun, May 4, 2008, at 9:00 AM

I know a child molester that got off because a "preacher" testified in a court hearing that she had became a Christian. Well, guess what? She offended less than 2yrs. later. These lower species of human flesh do not want rehabilitaion. Whoever wants to take up for them is likely to be a family member, a friend or someone just like them. This is a 3yr old were talking about!!! Come on, dex, think about it!!! Does this nobody deserve "special treatment"? No!!! The poor, defenseless child he violated does!!! These lower life forms think that a child this young won't remember what happened to them and that if they do that they won't be able to make anyone understand. That makes these creeps even worse. Why do people want to pray for help when everything starts falling apart? Just to get bailed out of their problems, that's why! By the way dex, the child molester I talked about at the beginning of this statement, approached me in an inappropriate fashion and the same "preacher" took up for her again. Don't tell me they want to change. I know they are beyond that!!!!!

-- Posted by reyndown on Wed, May 7, 2008, at 2:38 PM

Jayster28.....he raped a friend of yours a few years ago and you werent man enough to do something about it?!? Sorry, but if it was someone I knew that he did it to, I would have gotten to him before the police.

-- Posted by MASSIVE1000 on Wed, May 7, 2008, at 2:40 PM

don't you think that if he had raped someone a few years ago that he would have gotten in trouble for that?!? i checked on casenet and did not see anything on there about a previous rape! i am not saying that what has happened is right...and by the way, i prayed for this guy and family long before things started "falling apart". also, reyndown, do you think that the molester that you were talking about maybe didn't get the help she needed? in my opinion, they all need to go to a psychiatric facility to be rehabilitated, not just thrown in jail to only be let out again to do the same thing! they all need PROFESSIONAL HELP! i also believe that some are able to be rehabilitated, just like alcoholics and drug users! again, this is only my opinion! GOD BLESS!

-- Posted by dex on Wed, May 7, 2008, at 3:55 PM

You sure are feeling sorry for the offenders, dex! The hag used God as a copout, do you think she can be helped?! You have to want help if you want to change. I think maybe you're taking up for these kind of freaks too much. Have you ever been violated by someone? Why is your solution to lock all of them up in a psycho ward? Is that where you would want to go if you were an offender? You just seem a little bit too connected to these nobodys! What these no good bums need to do is cry out God and repent(that means - CHANGE THEIR MIND SET!!!!!!!!!) Your prayers can't change someone's mind, only they can make that choice and they need the help of God to do it, but most of them don't want to. By the way, if you have been praying so long for this family, did you see this problem coming and do nothing about it? Is that why you are so defensive?!

-- Posted by reyndown on Wed, May 7, 2008, at 5:13 PM

reyndown...i agree w/you on that you have to want the help if you are going to be changed! whether or not i was ever a victim or violated in none of anyone's business!!! i believe that they need to go to psychiatric facilities b/c there they can get PROFESSIONAL HELP! if they go to prison, they will most likely get out one day only to be able to repeat their offense! and yes, if i were an offender, i would hope that someone would see that i needed to go to a psychiatric facility to get PROFESSIONAL HELP b/c there would be something mentally wrong! do i feel connected to these "nobodys"?...let's just say that i feel that everyone is treatable (drug addicts, alcoholics, sex addicts, etc.)!!! i agree w/you in that they all need to call upon God and repent! you're right in that they need the help of God to help them change the way they think, and i pray to God that He will help them w/that...so yes, i feel that my prayers do help! i have faith!!! no, i did not see this problem coming...i pray because i feel that everyone needs somebody to pray for them...including you and i! HAVE FAITH!

GOD BLESS!
