"The Foundation has been most generous to us in the past and we continue to appreciate and benefit from the support they provide for our programs," Mitchell said after receiving news of the grant.
The $100,000 grant, made available through the Basic Support Program, will be presented to the local foundation over the next two years in $50,000 increments and will be utilized primarily to fund the salaries of the three staff members that make up the local Mother-to-Mother Program.
The Missouri Foundation for Health granted a total of $1.1 million in their most recent distribution, with $100,000 also awarded to the Bootheel Food Bank in Sikeston and $100,000 each allotted to Butler County's Community Resource Council and Butler County's Council on Aging. In addition, the Family Counseling Center in Kennett was granted $200,000. Other agencies in Cape Girardeau, Charleston, Ironton, Naylor and in Potosi were recipients of the grants as well.
