Mr. Walpole was a former meat cutter at various grocery stores in Stoddard County, served on the Dexter Police Department as chief of police for two years, a member of Sweet Prospect General Baptist Church in Dexter, and a resident of Dexter.
On Jan. 26, 1941, he was united in marriage to Ivogene Coln in Kennett. Mrs. Walpole survives at her residence in Dexter.
Besides his wife, other survivors include two sons, Archie Gaylon Walpole of Dexter and Larry Eugene Walpole of Bloomfield; one daughter, Pamela Kay Walpole of Dexter; one sister, Mary Lee Smith of Flint, Mich.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson; two brothers, Calvin Cook Walpole and Billy Wayne Walpole.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2008, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Jimmy Trotter officiating.
Interment followed in the Dexter Cemetery.
