Lady Mules fall to East Prairie

Tuesday, April 29, 2008
BERNIE -- Walks and errors always hurt a team in a close game and it was not different Saturday as East Prairie defeated the Bernie Lady Mules, 11-9.

"Too many walks and erros cvost us this game," Bernie coach Jeff Rodgers said. "Once again we out-hit our opponents, but came up short"

Bernie fell behind 6-1 early, but after an hour rain-delay, the Lady Mules returned to mount a rally that tied teh game at 8-all after six innings of play.

Three unearned runs in the top of the seventh proved to be the game winners, as the Lady Mules could only answer with a single tally in the bottom of the frame, leaving the tying run on at second.

"The girls didn't give up and made it exciting," Rodgers added. "We just need to put more complete games together. If we play solid defense and limit our walks, we have a good chance of winning."

Bernie slipped to 3-6 with the loss.
