Lois Pearl Corbin Barnes

Lois Pearl Corbin Barnes, daughter of the late Worley Corbin and Pearl Brown Corbin was born on Feb. 20, 1928, in Stoddard County and died at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at the age of 80.

She had attended the Bernie Nazarene Church, was a former school teacher, had retired from the Brown Shoe Company of Bernie after 22 years and was a resident of Bernie.

She was united in marriage to Jessie Wayne Barnes on Dec. 20, 1947. at Piggott, Ark. He survives of the home in Bernie.

Other survivors include four sons, Terry Barnes of Washington, Ray Barnes of Gleason, Tenn., Gene Barnes and Bobby Barnes, both of Dexter; four daughters, Janet Wall of Augusta, Helen Teel of Bernie, Phyllis Weathers of Fisk, and Mary Barnes of Bernie; one sister, Doris Mossman of Poplar Bluff; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death, other than by her parents, by four brothers, Herman Corbin, Lester Corbin, Chester Corbin and Ivan Corbin; two sisters, Irene Williamson and Lucille Cagle; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday morning, May 5, 2008, at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Humbert and Rev. Marlin Durham officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
