Brown Construction turned in the low bid among four bid presented for consideration during the board's April 29 meeting. Brown's original bid for $8,213,000, although the lowest presented, was still above what the board had initially projected for building the center. With that in mind, Steve Brown, along with the project's architect, Dale Rogers, met with the board last night and after considerable discussion and with Brown working with subcontractors, the overall cost of the project has been reduced to a projected $7,492,893, a reduction of $720,107.
A ground breaking ceremony will take place in the near future and will be announced by the Daily Statesman.
