Clyde "Cotton" Babb

Clyde "Cotton" Babb, Jr., son of the late Clyde and Mary Farmer Babb, was born in Senath on Feb. 25, 1931, and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Friday, May 9, 2008, at the age of 77.

Mr. Babb had lived in Dexter most of his life. He was a retired Chevrolet mechanic and was a member of the New Bethel General Baptist Church near Dexter. He had served as a deacon since August 1982. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

On Aug. 5, 1950, he was married to Carrie Jean Hanback in Piggott, Ark.

Surviving are his wife, Carrie Jean Babb of Dexter; one son, Steve Babb of Bernie; one daughter, Karan King of Essex; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister in Arizona.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2008, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2008, at the New Bethel General Baptist Church near Dexter with Rev. Dean Williams and Rev. Clifford Wray, both of Dexter, officiating.

Interment was held in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
