Mr. Jeter had lived in Southeast Missouri all his life. He had spent many years in Dexter before moving to Essex three years ago. He was a member of the Dexter Eagles Aerie #4062. He retired from Federal Mogul in Malden after 39 years.
On Oct. 17, 1971, he was married to Shirley Denkins in Kennett. She preceded him in death on May 6, 1995.
Surviving are one step-daughter, Martha "Marty" Rowland of Dexter; two step-sons, John Paul Bradish of Ellington and Michael Douglas Bradish of California; two step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Joe Jeter of St. Louis; two brothers, Rondall Jeter of Fayetteville, N.C., and William "Bill" Jeter of Rockford, Ill.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Bonnie Bleu Jeter on Dec. 2, 1978; and five brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2008, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
