Holden was the top District 3 finishers with rounds of 79-79 for a 158 two-day total, and tied for 19th place over all in the individual competition.
"Chance did all right," Dexter coach Eric Sitze said Wednesday morning. "Not as well as he expected, but he still did a good job. I watched him play every shot and he worked hard both days getting those 79's.
"He probably didn't have his 'A' game, but he hung in there," Sitze continued. "He didn't have a lot of birdies and he found some hazard and had six double bogies. Rivercut has a tight back nine, and it's the kind of course that if you miss a shot, either with a driver or an iron, its really hard to cut up and down to save par."
Kevin Bell of Westminister Christian Academy carded rounds of 74-75 (149) to win the individual title.
"Chance is capable of shooting scores like that," Sitze said. "Last year he finished 33rd, so this will be a good experience for him.
"He just didn't make enough birdies, he needed some of those birdie putts to fall. He made several good par putts the second day."
Holden's 158 total was one-shot back of the 157 score needed to finished in the top 15, which is what determines All-State recognition.
Kearney High School won the team title with a 628 (52 over par) total.
