A hickory tree in the yard of Kirby and Betsy Taylor on Stoddard Street that was nearly a century old could not withstand the winds that ripped through Dexter Tuesday night. The tree was split nearly in half, and came to rest within inches of the Taylor house. Crews were busy Wednesday removing what remained of the tree.
