Mark Plummer was chosen as this year's valedictorian with a grade point average of 4.2696. He is the son of Bruce and Kay Plummer.
Plummer was in the top 10 percent of his class for all four years at Dexter High School, earned the Math and Science Faculty Awards and the I Dare You Award. He also was a participant in the Missouri Scholars Academy, Missouri Boys State, the Dexter Honors Society and Bright Flight.
He was a member of the concert and jazz bands, the Boy Scouts, the First United Methodist youth group and a member of the track team his junior year.
After graduation, Plummer plans to attend the Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly UMR) in Rolla, Mo., where he will major in geological engineering.
Chosen as salutatorian with a 4.2296 grade point average was Amanda Dooley. She is the daughter of Roy and Leanne Dooley.
She was also in the top 10 percent of her class for the past four years, was in the Dexter Honor Society, was a Missouri Girls State Delegate in 2007 and is a Southeast Missouri University Governor's Scholar. She was also awarded the Language Arts Award and was active in Bright Flight.
While attending Dexter High School, Dooley was a member of the varsity tennis and softball teams for four years and a member of the varsity basketball team for three years.
After graduation, Dooley plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University and major in pre-med (surgery-neurology).
Dexter High School graduation ceremonies will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 16, at the high school football stadium, weather permitting.

Congrats to both of you! I worked with Amanda's dad, Roy "Doc" Dooley for several years with when I worked with the USDA at Tyson. He and his wife must be so very proud of their daughter's achievements!
