Four arrested in connection with jailbreak

Friday, May 23, 2008

The recent escape from Stoddard County jail has resulted in four more arrests.

According to Stoddard County Sheriff Carl Hefner, Manuel Ajanel and John 'Kacy' Jones escaped from the jail around 10:36 p.m. Monday night through an air conditioning vent that went through the roof.

Jones was captured early Tuesday in Clay County, Ark. near Piggott and Rector.

After further investigation, the Stoddard County Sheriff's Department has charged four more people in connection with the escapes.

Crystal Jones and Matt Ryan have been charged with Class D felony of Accessory to escape or attempted escape while under arrest for a felony. The two allegedly aided Jones in his escape by getting him out of town and helping him get his car and other items.

Two other individuals have been arrested on charges of Accessory to escape in regards to Manuel Ajanel who is still on the loose.

Sherry Lee Grimm of Dexter and Shanna R. Valazquez of Bloomfield allegedly helped Ajanel get away from Stoddard County.

Hefner said Thursday that the two women drove Ajanel to Sikeston where they dropped him off and then returned to Dexter. Some time later, he called Grimm and told her he had been unable to secure a ride so she reportedly drove back to Sikeston and then took him to Memphis, Tenn..

No information was released as to where he may have gone once he reached Memphis.

Hefner did say, however, that he was quite sure that Ajanel had left the area.

Valazquez, Crystal Jones and Ryan are in Stoddard County Jail facing $50,000 cash only bonds. Grimm, also in custody, is in jail on a $75,000 cash only bond.

John "Kacy" Jones of Dexter was originally charged with Felony Distribution of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana). He was sitting in Stoddard County Jail facing a $150,000 cash only bond.

Ajanel is 24 years old, 5'4" and about 130 lbs.. He is of Hispanic origin with dark hair and skin. He was arrested on charges of forcible rape in early 2008.

Both men face new charges today of the Class D felonies of Escape and accessory to escape.

If you think you may have seen Ajanel, contact local law enforcement officials immediately.

This is the same info that appeared in the Poplar Bluff American Republic yesterday and the day before. This leads me to wonder if they put this out before it was supposed to have been released to the public.

At any rate, Ajanel is on the loose and is a danger where ever he might be. Let's he pray he gets caught soon!

The people that helped these imates escape, are they STUPID ? I don't care if it was my own husband, mother, father or child, if they were arrested and place in jail for a crime that they were suppose to of committed, there butts would stay in there until the judge released them. Or, until I could get a lawyer and do it the legal way-BOND OUT!! I just don't understand how some peoples minds work !

well I for one would hope that the information would be released as soon as it is uncovered, afterall he is a threat and obviously the conspirators are also and we have the right and should be informed. I see no possible way releasing said info could hinder any investigation

hes in mexico probably why would he stay here he thinks he can make it back to Mexico and be safe but i bet you that he ends up back in the states just hopefully our justice system will find this guy and put him away forever in the Missouri State Prisons with the maximum. Then he needs to be put away in the Federal system dont ever let this guy out. The same goes for John "Kacy" Jones he needs to do his 30+ from previous charges and everything that he gets from this charge maybe this fool will learn that you, "KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'VE ALWAYS DONE YOU'LL KEEP GETTING WHAT YOU'VE ALWAYS GOT.......TIME"

FIrst of all Manuel isn't a Mexican. Second how does anyone know that he is guilty of anything other than breaking out of jail? It would be easy for someont to acuse anyone else of something that never happened. Lack of proof can make a case carry out for a long time. I only hope that one day people would not judge him becasue of his race. I know him personally and I know that he would never hurt anyone. He is a respectful man and a hard worker.I do feel that Manuel was wrong for braking out of the jail but i also feel that nobody but God has a right to judge him. Try to put yourself in his shoes. Not many can do that due to the way the Americans are raised now.
