Edna Hampton

Edna E. Hampton, daughter of the late Robert Smothers and Jeanette Wimberley Smothers, was born on Dec. 24, 1912, in Tennessee and died on June 5, 2008, at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter at the age of 95.

Mrs. Hampton was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter, a homemaker and a resident of Dexter.

On May 25, 1931, she was united in marriage to Ovid Jackson. On April 14, 1969, Mr. Jackson preceded her in death. She was then married to Fred Hampton on July 3, 1973. Mr. Hampton preceded her in death on June 22, 1974.

Besides her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, June 9, 2008, from 9-10 a.m.

Graveside services will follow at Dogwood Cemetery in Blytheville, Ark.
