Viola Lucille Wilkison

Viola Lucille Heflin Wilkison, daughter of the late Matthew VanBuren Heflin and Lucy Bell Razor Heflin, was born on July 3, 1928, in Aquilla and died at Golden Living Nursing Home in Bloomfield on Friday, June 13, 2008, at the age of 79 surrounded by her family.

On Nov. 2, 1946, she was united in marriage to Harold Wilkison of Bloomfield in Piggott, Ark. Harold preceded her in death after 38 wonderful years of marriage. Mrs. Wilkison's five siblings also preceded her in death, Marie Ginger, Cora Fletcher, Emma Williamson, Ray Heflin and Jim Heflin.

Mrs. Wilkison lived in Wyoming for six years with her family before returning home to Bloomfield where she had resided for the past 46 years.

Mrs. Wilkison was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter. She worked at Elder Manufacturing in Bloomfield for over 20 years where she made many close friends. Maw Maw Lucille is how she is known by the many children she baby-sat for over 10 years. Their lives were touched by her nurturing affection and faith in God. Mrs. Wilkison was a faithful Christian, dedicated mother, and devoted wife.

Mrs. Wilkison is survived by three children, Barbara Strickland and her husband Walter of Essex; Dwight Wilkison and his wife Tina of Bloomfield; and Debbie Alsup and her companion Den Bales of Festus; eight grandchildren, Pam Guiling and her husband Chris, Heather Winston and her husband Jonathon, Lindsey Alsup, Thomas Strickland, Ladena Wilkison, Lacey Alsup, Tyler Wilkison, and Cole Alsup; and one great-grandchild, Amery Winston.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2008, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Lonnie Mittag officiating.

Interment will follow at Bloomfield Cemetery.
