Pearl Bateman

Pearl Bateman, daughter of the late Edd Carl Pemberton and Viola Harrington Pemberton, was born on April 9, 1922 in Perkins and died at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on June 16, 2008 at the age of 86.

Mrs. Bateman was a former nurses aide at the Dexter Nursing Center, a member of the Church of God in Dudley, a loving mother and grandmother and a resident of Dexter.

She was united in marriage to G. G. "PAP" Bateman on December 3, 1938 at Marked Tree, Ark. Mr. Bateman preceded her in death on August 19, 1993.

She is survived by four daughters, Sandra Gough of Dexter, Micki Crawford of Talbott, Tenn., Shirli Humphries and Velda Bueno both of Waterford, Mich.; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Roland Bateman, by two brothers, John Pearl Pemberton and James Pemberton; by two sisters, Pauline Baker and Lamona Pemberton.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 until 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2008.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2008 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Louis Lowe officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
