A 50th wedding anniversary celebration will be held in honor of Jim and Shirley Tate on Saturday, March 29, from 1 - 4 p.m. The event will take place in the basement of the First Presbyterian Church located at 201 S. Locust in Dexter.

Jim Tate from Vandalia and Shirley McNew from Morehouse were married in Hernando, Miss., on March 30, 1958. The couple has spent the majority of their lives in the Dexter area. Jim worked over 30 years locally in the insurance industry, and Shirley spent her time caring for the home and helping to raise their three children. The family invites friends and acquaintances of the couple to drop by and share in this milestone. Cake and punch will be served along with lots of memories and laughter.

The couple requests that there be no gifts.
