Dwain and Pamela Lape of Dexter announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Shannon Rae (Lape) Burger to Darren Lee Herkert of Carbondale, Ill. Darren is the son of Harriett Herkert and the late Lester Herkert of Pontiac, Ill.

The bride-elect is currently attending college at Mid-Continent University and will be graduating in 2009 with a degree in business administration. She is an employee of Southern Illinois Surgical Appliance. Darren is a graduate of John A. Logan in Carbondale with a degree in criminal justice. He is currently employed as an RSR for Frito-Lay.

The wedding will take place Sept. 27, 2008, at the Blue Sky vineyard in Makanda, Ill. After the ceremony and honeymoon, thecouple will reside in Carbondale, Ill., with their daughter, Kelsey Burger.
