Roy Minton

Roy Minton, son of the late Ruth Cook Minton Shipman and Levi Minton, was born on Sept. 19, 1942, at Dexter and died in the Hillsboro Area Hospital at Hillsboro, Ill., on Monday, June 16, 2008, at the age of 65.

Mr. Minton was the former manager of a plating business in Highland, Ill., a former employee of Shipman's Market at Dexter, a former resident of Dexter and a current resident of Sorento, Ill.

He is survived by two sons, Scott Minton of Alvin, Texas, and Brad Minton of New Braunfels, Texas; one daughter, Susan Crow of Boerne, Texas; his friend and companion, Deanne Bonetto of Hillsboro, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Justin Minton, Ashley Minton, Jessica Minton, Nikolaus Minton, Abigail Minton, Seth Crow, Hannah Crow and Emma Crow; three brothers, Paul Minton of St. Albans, W. Va., Dr. John Minton and Charles Shipman, both of Dexter; three sisters, Jean Silver of Old Hickory, Tenn., Carol Rainey of Palestine, Texas, and Merideth Gray of Byhalia, Miss.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Ray Shipman.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2008, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2008, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel.

Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.
